According to Consumer Reports, cardholders rated American Express, Discover Card, and cards issued by credit unions as the best credit cards. The lowest rated cards on the customer satisfaction scale were Direct Merchants and Washington Mutual’s Providian.

In the retail-issued credit card rankings, Cabela’s and Nordstrom topped the list as the best retail credit cards.
